Essential tips for a smooth temple visit in Tamil Nadu
Wear traditional attire — dhoti/veshti for men, saree/salwar for women. Avoid western clothing in major temples.
Arrive early morning (5–7 AM) to avoid crowds and enjoy the calm atmosphere. Friday evenings are busiest.
Remove footwear outside. Keep phones silent. Photography may be restricted inside sanctum sanctorum.
Especially for hillside temples like Palani and Tiruvannamalai. Wear comfortable footwear for long walks.
Buy flowers and coconuts outside the temple. Book special archana or abhishekam through the temple counter.
October to March is ideal. Avoid peak summer (April–June). Festival seasons have large crowds but grand celebrations.
